Tuesday Tail #44

Everything went wrong for today's post, starting with my broadband playing up last night when I wanted to draft it, to finding the laptop which has all the photo's on had no battery power and realising I've left the power supply somewhere else. I feel like just going back to bed. Looks like I'm not the only one...

This was quite a result. After each losing their partners recently, Toby and Glamour have quickly bonded with each other!

Such a sweet couple! :-)

Perfectly named bunnies

Sometimes the bunny names that Caroline comes up with are just perfectly suited to the bunnies.

As you will have gathered, gorgeous foster buns Clarence and Cora (who I am just a little attached to) went back to the rescue a few weeks ago so that we could do a course of meds for Caroline on another bunny pair. So, after saying goodbye to Cora and Clarence and settling them into a nice clean hutch, I packed Glamour and Majestic into the car and brought them home. In my opinion they both have perfect names. Majestic is a handsome dalmation rex who pulls some suitably noble poses. (An online dictionary tells me that Majestic can mean ‘Having or displaying great dignity or nobility’, ‘Belonging to or befitting a supreme ruler’ or ‘Superior to mundane matters’ – not sure Glamour would agree with the ‘supreme ruler’ bit). And Glamour has a very glamourous mane of hair. They are very well behaved bunnies and no trouble at all to have to stay (injection time with Glamour involves considerably less stomping, grunting and running away than with Clarence). Here are a few photos of them awaiting snacks.

Glamour: “What am I missing? Budge over!”

Run Rabbit Run

One of the biggest frustrations of running a rescue is trying to educate people about the minimum size of run that will provide a suitable exercise area for bunnies. We ask for a minimum run size of 6ft by 10ft. The RWAF currently say 8ft by 6ft. Pet shops generally say "any size that gets you to part with your cash before you leave the shop".

We also ask for a minimum of 3ft high to allow comfortable headroom for binkying, though we suggest higher ones are better to allow you to sit in the run and interact with the bunnies.

There's another reason why the taller ones are better...

The extra height might keep the local undesirables off your roof!
