Dreams do come true

Some bunnies spend their entire lives in rescue, never chosen because they lack confidence with new people, aren’t seen as ‘attractive’, or have additional needs.

Rabbit Residence Rescue provides a sanctuary for these rabbits and aims to give them a life as close as they would get in a forever home as we can but for me it’s simply not enough.

On Sunday a miracle happened, Mully & Scully and Mimi & Tintin finally found their forever home!

I honestly never believed it would happen, but they’ve settled in well in their new home after spending 8 and 9 years in rescue!

It was a very bittersweet day for me as Mully and Scully have always been my favourites and the rescue will be a different place without Mully’s cheekiness, Scully’s gentle nose boops and Mimi not demanding head rubs and Tintin humping her with excitement at dinner times.

They will be greatly missed but have finally found the forever home every unwanted bunny deserves.

I thought I’d share some of my favourite photos of them taken by the amazingly talented Bunny Hugging Volunteer. (Apologies for those I’ve posted twice, I can’t seem to remove them)

Hiding from Monday

Even though it’s a bank holiday, the bunnies have still been practicing hiding from Monday with varying degrees of success.

Scully has come top of the class

Meanwhile I think Vegas either needs a lesson as to what camouflage means or a trip to spec savers

Maybe she's born with it

Sometimes you catch that perfect moment on camera. (Well BHV does anyway, my camera skills leaves lot to be desired).

Here's the lovely Scully enjoying her supermodel moments with her mane blowing in the breeze.

Sunny days

Most of the rescue bunnies are enjoying the better weather, some are even taking long siestas in the sun.

Number of rabbits that gave me heart failure as I thought they were dead, when they were really just asleep, 3.
Number of disgruntled bunnies following them receiving a poke to check they were still alive, 3.
Extra treats given, I lost count.

Anyway, here's a photo of  Mully & Scully enjoying some alfresco dining.

Will I fits?

Little Scully is a bit chubby at present, too many treats apparently (almost definitely my fault).
Here she is contemplating if she can squeeze down her tunnel.

The X-files: Case of the disappearing noms

Scully: Please Crazy Bunny Lady, can we having some extra noms?

CBL: Since you asked so nicely of course you may, here's some nice fresh grass to go with your pellets.

Mulder & Scully: Thanks, Crazy Bunny Lady, did we ever tell you that you're our favourite volunteer?

(CBL Blushes)

Scully:  Help, Help! somebody stole all the noms.

Mulder:  Laughs evilly

Unusually Scully

Owing to a slight technical fault, in that I planned to do something last night and then knocked a large glass of water all over my desk and gave up and went to bed instead, there was no post ready for this morning.  Sorry about that - if you are anything like me then I know some of you will like to start your day catching up with the bunnies of the blog-o-verse, it can be quite disappointing when those adorable little faces aren't there to stare back at you over your cereal/newspaper/first-drink-of-the-day when you fire up the morning intehwebs.

It turns out I am not inspired enough to be able to interpret bunny hilarity at 8am, but that's OK, because instead I can share this with you.

Mulder and Scully are quite nervous bunnies when it comes to people.  Consequently, the best pictures I can usually get of them are during breakfast and even then they usually look grumpy about having the camera pointed at them.  So Saturday I was pleasantly surprised (i.e. lucky) to capture this great natural looking pic of Scully, momentarily distracted by what Mulder was doing off camera.

From now on: MUGS of water (harder to knock over) only...

Model Runaround

We try and have a variety of different types of bunny accommodation at the Rescue to demonstrate to visitors what sorts of setups might work in their garden.  One of our (and the bunnies) favourites is the Runaround system - in it's simplest setup, connecting the hutch to the run using a long bendy pipe.

Here is Scully modelling hers (which she shares with Mulder, obvy!).  If you have, or are thinking of having, bunnies living outside, you might want to check out the Runaround website for lots of ideas for making bunnies environments more interesting!

"I'm a model now, eh?  Surely they MUST get paid a lot of carrots."

The Rules of Breakfast

"The thing about breakfast is...

...no matter how many pieces of tasty veg there are...

...the only one I want is yours."

Wanted: Names

Any suggestions for what we can call these two little floofy bundles of joy? One boy, one girl. Please add your ideas to the comments below, or via our Facebook page. Thank you! :-)

Anybody There?

SCENE: A shed just outside Royston. It has been raining heavily all day, but there is a break in the clouds and sun is shining through the doorway. BHV is sitting on the floor flicking through a series of poorly taken pictures on the screen of a digital camera. Enter BBs.

BBs: Ah, there you are. We'd like a word.
BHV: Yes, what is it?
BBs: Well, it's just that there haven't been any posts on the blog for about a month. We wondered where you'd gone?
BHV: Hey, I've been busy! Whisky's had major surgery, I've been working late nights at my other job, I've hardly been here...
BBs: People don't want to hear your complaining! They just want to know what's going on at the Rescue. They want to see pictures of bunnies!
BHV: Well I can't think of anything to write.
BBs: People don't care what words you put in - they visit the blog for the cute pictures!
BHV: Oh, very well. And who shall I post pictures of? Who at the Rescue right now is so cute that no-one will even read the words I type?
BBs: Well US of course!
BHV: OK baby bunnies, you win. Here you go...

Happy now?
