Bunny-lympics

Kanga and Erica were full and of the joys of spring at the weekend, they were even jumping the agility jumps we have in their binky area.
Here's an amazing photos of Kanga, winning the binky sprint.

Legless

I think Kanga has decided it's best if he keeps all is legs out of sight whilst I'm around.
He was subjected to an emergency health check the other day as it looked as though he'd broken his leg.

Turns out all that fluff makes his legs look slightly 'odd' and I'd interrupted him cleaning his toes.

He was not amused and spent 30 minutes refusing to come out for behind a shed at bed time as a result.

Fur Brush Thursday

"Oh no you don't! Don't you think for a second that you're leaving here before you've shown me a mirror!"

The Kanga Ruse

I think moaning about the weather is going to be this weeks theme. With several days of rain and clouds keeping Whisky, Texas and the babies out of sight (or at least out of good light) and no new (decent) photo's from the Rescue, I'm a bit stuck. So for no other reason whatsoever, here's a picture from several weeks back of Kanga enjoying some dried snacky grass.

"Ha ha! Well. I, um...have absolutely no idea what hilarious thing I was talking about two weeks ago. Anyone?"

Three Foot Long

Nice try guys, but that gag only really works if you have the same coloured fur...

"Behold!  The three-foot-long bunneh!"

The Queen Jubilee

I thought you might like to hear what is happening with our lovely tempered giant Jubilee, after her failed bond with Whisky.

With Whisky out the way it was back to plan A, to bond her with fellow volunteer Sharon's house rabbit. Sharon's handsome giant could be Jubilee's male doppelgänger, so similar are they in size, look and colouring, so they certainly looked like they were meant to be! But whether it was her experience of bonding with Whisky or that her new friend shared Whisky's lack of bunny etiquette, their together time soon turned to fighting and unfortunately Jubilee ended up with a trip to the vets to have her side stapled back together.

While we consider whether to give the couple a second (very carefully supervised) chance, Jubilee is enjoying her recovery time roaming the Rescue like she owns the place - taking naps in the shade, keeping the paths free from grass and introducing herself to all the neighbours. If things are not looking to work out with Sharon's buck, who knows, maybe Jubilee will take matters into her own paws and find herself a husbun!

"No I don't read the blog - why didn't you tell me you already have two wives??!!"

Together is Better

So the reason I didn't have a blog post ready for you this morning was that I didn't get back from the Rescue until late last night and had, like, zero energy. Couldn't even lift my arms to wave them in the direction of the keyboard. And all I'd really done was clean one shed (for Sushi and Serena) and completed about eighty percent of the evening routine (water and food) to cover Caroline who was late back from a re-homing. Took me three hours. No wonder Caroline rarely stops moving when you talk to her, if she did she'd still be doing the Monday tasks come Thursday. Anyway, enough of my complaining.

Being there for dinnertime, I did have the pleasure of witnessing yesterdays featured buns all sharing snacks together and OH-MY-THEY-ARE-SO-FREAKIN-CUTE!!!!!!!

I mean, seriously, this picture doesn't even come close to capturing how floofilicious they are together. I totally had to sit down after to let a serious case of the gigglysquees subside...

Cashmere Girls Meet Cashmere Boy

We always favour house-rabbit homes for Cashmere buns. After just a few days outside at the Rescue, these girls will happily show you why - they look like they've been dragged backwards through the proverbial hedge.

[Mental note: must add "Cashmere combing" to regularly scheduled tasks at the Rescue.] Whinnie's former partner Kanga doesn't seem to mind how they look and so far he is enjoying having two new young friends to play with. Not that there's much playing - in this heat and with all that fur it's mostly lounging.

"Yes, my new friends are very sweet. Like the iced tea I ordered an hour ago...service?"
