Dumbo

It is with great sadness that I report to you that we lost dear Dumbo over the weekend. Saturday morning I opened their shed to find he had died suddenly in the night.

Dumbo was an incredibly friendly guy who had been with us from a baby. One of the hardest parts of losing him now is that he died so young, not even two years old. He featured on this blog a few times and although his size doesn't really show in the pictures, he grew from a small fluffball with over-sized ears into a big cuddly French lop.

By the time he was old enough to get a friend, he had already bonded very closely with Caroline. Perhaps influenced by this bond, Caroline decided he should stay at the Rescue, making the perfect companion for our special needs bun Patty. Though his time with us was far too brief, throughout it Dumbo was never short of love and attention.

Dear sweet Dumbo. Binky free in peace.

  3. So sorry to hear... All of you guys who care for so many buns, I don't know how you deal with it. I have yet to recover from the loss of my Moshi last year, and the loss of my Tiny ten years ago still hurts...

    Binky free, Dumbo.

  6. I can't believe this little pal is gone. I just keep reviewing his pictures. I guess big ears are like pockets. In this little guy's case, he just stored away a lot of extra special bunnyness in his. Please give Patty a head rub. Thank you all for what you do. It is not easy to be custodians of precious livingness, but where would this little bunn been without you? Where would we be without him? You like him are lights in the darkness, gifts of lovingness so that the enormous gentle gift of bunnyness can blossom. We hardly know you, but we love you. Shine on!
