Updated Foot
Despite two skin grafts and lots of 'cage rest', Archimedes' foot has not greatly improved. Unfortunately this means our vets are having to explore other more serious options. His mental health is also a big consideration though, so in the meantime his empire has gradually re-expanded and he has been allowed additional roaming privileges. Mostly this is around the hospital barn and mostly the floor in his area is covered in fabricated fluffiness, but to lift his mood he does also get some time outside in the sun.
While everyone is understandably anxious about his future, Archimedes has certainly cheered up as a result of the extra freedoms. In fact, witnessing the less-grumpy-lump King Archi and the speed he now moves when the veg arrives in the morning it is sometimes easy to forget how serious his condition is.

Bunny Mad Photographer
Bunny Mad Magazine are running their Bunny Photographer of the Year competition right now (details on their Facebook Page), so I thought I'd have a go.
You'd think, with all my experience, that this would be a simple task. Unfortunately, the only bunnies in my house right now are my bunnies and when it comes to being photographed my bunnies are rubbish. I love 'em, but...
Yes, Bobbit. Yes it was. [sigh]

Away To A Meadow
Is that Meadow?
Oh wow! She looks so cute and adorable! Maybe those months she spent as a house rabbit made her sweeter and less demanding??!!
And normal service resumes...

Fluffity Blinkers!
BHV: Oh Elantha, I can understand why HE might want his floof trimmed in this heat, but surely that's his problem not...
BHV: Fair enough. I'll get the scissors.

The REW Deal
"Red-eyed white" (REW) bunnies are generally more difficult to home. For some people the look reminds them of laboratory rabbits suffering the daily tortures that life (or more accurately humankind) brings them.
Case in point are Boz and Polar, a bonded pair of REW RRR bunnies who have been on our rehoming list for the best part of the last three years with almost zero interest. As a result, a kind volunteer has had them on long term foster to give them a taste of a better life, but they are now back at the Rescue and desperate to find a forever home.
They are a wonderful pair - for a start, Boz (though you'd never guess to look at him) is the brother of Browncloud and former RRR bun JJ, two of the most amazing characters I've ever met. Boz seems to have gotten the same friendly genes, but without all the crazy/stubborness...
Er...maybe not that last bit, eh Polar?
Do you know anyone who could might be able to give this pair a good home? Please put them in touch with us via our website or Facebook page!

Uggy
As you will know if you happened across my comments, after I posted today about Uggy he was found suddenly and very seriously unwell. Very sadly, he is no longer with us.
It is nothing but tragic timing that this should happen the very day he made it onto the blog. Both of todays photos were from Saturday 3rd September - I was looking for bunnies willing to pose for photos for the next few weeks on the blog in case I didn't make it back to the Rescue for a while, he and Soleil were very keen to take part in exchange for the treats I was carrying. They pretty much demanded it as I passed their aviary in fact! They were so keen, racing around my feet, but also happy to pause and pose just long enough for me to capture their adorable faces.
As I sorted through the photos yesterday I came across that silly one from this morning and knew I just had to post it, especially when I realised he hadn't been on here before. I had no idea it would be both his first and last day in the limelight.
Such a friendly little boy, always happy and full of life. You will be missed, especially by your adoring wife. Binky free Uggy.
It Could Get Uggy
This is one of those "I can't believe that wonderful bunny hasn't been on the blog before!" days. Particularly curious that this has happened since his wife has been on a number of times. Well anyhoos, meet the lovely and handsome Uggy.
Er... I mean he is lovely and handsome when he hasn't just realised he's been missing out on extra visitor treats all this time...

The Management
There are a number of organisational changes on-going at the RRR this summer, it's easy for volunteers who are not here every week to get confused. I figured maybe we needed a sign to make things clear...

The Best Hiding Spot
Many rabbits, when attempting to avoid unwanted attention, will go and hide in the nearest tunnel. This is apparently an idea that occurred to Gertrude a few weeks ago.

Too Much Hard Work
One busy bee at the Rescue is Neon, who has an insatiable liking for pulling all of his bedding out of his hutch and spreading it around his aviary. This is quite obviously tiring work.

Syringe-Food Face
A while back I was forced to admit defeat over doing Bugsy's daily injections and returned the foster bunnies to the Rescue early. There are volunteers and workers at the Rescue who do these things every day and are far better at not stabbing themselves with needles than I am.
The very next time I volunteered at the Rescue, Sprat decided to show his appreciation for this by refusing to eat. That's OK, I thought, we can bond over some syringe feeding. He took the food, but I'm not sure this is the look of an impressed bunny who enjoyed snacky cuddles with his foster dad...
What do you think?
NOTE: The very next day he ate fine. I wasn't there that day. Feel the love.
